It kind of disturb me. I read from time to time if the rating is high but I am not a fan of it. The age difference and the kid is like being taken advantage of have me thinking of what and why I am reading this stuff.

I recently read a manga where the seme was in primary school and the uke was in college, it didn't seem weird because it was the seme doing the chasing and he looked considerably older than the uke, apart from his backpack gave away his age...lol

Well it is just disturbing in a sense that since for me it's the stereotype character that is most unnatural here in the real world. And yeah I see shotas as people who are supposed to be cute little angels instead

I like shota but not "the heavy" one with lots of sex.
One question. In which way "Junjou romantica" is a shota?

I guess it's something like a love/hate relationship between myself and this genre LOL. Since I love BL action, I suppose this should be okay. But a part of me that looks at this genre in a socially judgmental view would say no. What if people look a this and say pedophilia is okay? And then again there are certain levels of shotacon. As long as there's mutual love involved (forgive me God, for I also love BL rape >.<), it should be okay. But anyhow it's only a genre, it doesn't mean real-life people have to follow it literally, you know? :)

We enjoy BL including shota for entertainment, that shall be all :)

I am fine with it. I mean, seeing drawings of young people involved in selfish acts is not wrong - and if anything, it may be a healthier alternative to seeing it for real. I, of course, think it is very wrong to induct children into real pornography, but when and artist draws it for others to enjoy, it is totally fine. I like it some of the time, but it is not generally my cup of tea. The younger, the less appealing XD --- but for those who like it - totally OK!

I always love tho read shotacon for any type of printed matters, manga and novel. I love the time when Elder Seme teasing little Uke hehehehe. So wonderful.
Anyways, If that story feel so much dusgusting like there're a lot of blood or injured from harrassment, I will can not endure with it.
For example. I love manga of shotacon from mangaga who I cannot remember her name, the one who wrote Elle To Takara or something like that which no show in Evil Empire. long time I read it, quite miss that srory.

Well, some people feel like...Shota is "wrong" or "bad" because of the fact under-aged children are being put in sexual situations. For instance, a 12-year-old being done in the booty by a dude, probably an old guy, three times the age he is. Other people find it perfectly fine because they are "cartoons", "animated" and not actually real children. In my opinion, I do not really condone looking at Shota or Loli - personally, but if you're into that, go right ahead, lol. :D

I'm not really sure about shota, i don't really think it's right that people wouuld want to look at it, especially some of the more extreme mangas and animes. I'm the type to sympathise with characters and some of the situations they're put in are just dreadful, the 5-10 seconds I saw of Enzai is still upsetting, however I do respect that some people enjoy watching or reading shota and seeing as it does nobody any harm for them to view it in their own homes I don't believe I have the right to try and stop them or judge them for doing so.

technically it's not, misaki is eighteen or thereabouts, but with the way he's drawn i guess i can forgive some people mistaking him for younger. xD

LOL i am sometimes amused by this convention in yaoi manga. if he's seme he HAS to be buffer and taller!!!1!one. even if he's like ten years younger than the uke. i've actually mistaken some raws for shota, only to find that they were in the same grade, it's just that the uke was drawn to look ridiculously young.

While no children are hurt by by shota (I believe) I find it very disturbing to read anything with young characters in sexual situations and have no interest in it whatsoever. And I think other people who say there's something wrong with it might agree, getting off on children having sex is not really something to be proud of right? But that's just my opinion.

Someone has already mentioned the different levels of shota...

For me personally, I don't go out in search of shota. Although I may chance upon them and if the plot/art interests me I give it a go.
From my experience with this genre, the disturbance factors that I want to avoid when reading shota is the non-con with adults.
If all parties are kids it's ok for me, and I'm also ok with consensual intercourse between adult/child (please take this statement with a pinch of salt and ignore all the technicalities of consent between adult/child).
However, If it's adult forcing himself on child....disturbance factor is so bloody high it's off the scale. I may find non-con in yaoi hot as hell, but if a kid's involved it truly has entered the 'no way in hell' zone for me.

Of course, there are exceptions for me. So far, I can take anything Kuroshitsuji-related, consent or not. And the doujinshis for this series are the only shota that I actually go out of my way to search for.

If I find a shota manga with interesting plot then I will read it, but I find that the shota mangas that are literally boaderline toddlercon VERY disturbing. I don't particularly have anything against it but it's not my preferred.

Personally, I am totally okay with it because I consider it a work of fiction and not part of reality. I treat it as a genre of work just like porn. A lot of porn out there idealize women and use women as their subjects and I don't feel offended because of it. Now I see how some would consider this disgusting but remember that this is a work of fiction and some people need to get rid of their impulses, and sometimes it's by committing a real act of crime, and in some other cases it's through creation. It's true that it seems to be encouraging less than proper tendencies, but we are all human beings and we have urges and impulses that need to get out and I think this is why you get some pretty whacky work out there sometimes. I just enjoy yaoi and shota for the entertainment.

I don't really feel bad with shota but sometimes I just feel that its not as interesting as the normal ones because shota mostly involved with children. I find it quite hard to digest it sometimes as children are sometimes too young to be exposed to this kind of situation. It might be cruel to them or torturing situation. Most of the times, i would prefer to read soft and hard yaoi as it would be more realistic to me :05aa:

Personally, I don't mind shotacon. I like shotacon, but nothing too crazy about it. And if anything, I just like it when it's in manga, not in real life. Real life children and manga children are different, after all.

Of course, it would be very obvious to state that these things would spring from the anime or manga we've been exposed to. As for me, that would be Kuroshitsuji.

Though there were a lot of people that were so shocked to hear me say openly that I like shotacon, especially in my organization, but they are quite open-minded enough to understand (since some of the members like lolicon themselves). Perhaps it's just fandom, and should not be associated with real-life matters. Clearly, that would be very disturbing. Manga exists to fulfill your fantasies, after all.

Well, that's all I could say for now.

Honestly, I did read a shotacon (even a lolicon) manga, but I gotta say that I can never enjoy it. I did try to understand it but I really can't. I understand not all Shota is PWP but I still can't get away of the fact that this is a pairing of a child+adult with (some) erotic scenes. It's similar to child porn. I'm quite open minded but this is just not my type.

I once read a shota manga but I just couldn't enjoy it...it is just too disturbing to read. I mean most of these characters are too young to be involved in sexual situations. It doesn't feel right.
