So I put the question out to you.
What other anime's have been turned to live action which do you prefer? and why do you prefer it?
Do you agree with my sentiment regarding HYD and LC?
Which anime would you like to see turned into a live action and why?
Please as per usual to my posts
No bashing, no ridiculing other peoples posts and of course forum rules always apply.

With regards to the HYD...i personally enjoyed all versions of the live-action over the manga. It's just the manga art is not to my taste. And I cannot make a conclusive decision on whether the Taiwanese version, the Japanese version or the Korean version was best. They are all too different and distinctive to be compared. However, the Mainland version wasn't really to my taste....
I've never really tried out Lovely Complex (coz I didn't think I would like it) but if you recommend it I might give it a go ^^
And which anime I want to turn into a live-action?
Again it depends because some live-action are awesomely made whilst others aren't. Awesome ones are Hana Kimi, Hana Yori Dango, Gokusen, Kimi wa Petto, It Started With a Kiss, Crows Zero, Mars, Peach Girl, Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, Death Note, GTO, NANA, Ikebukuo West Gate Park, Nodame, Antique, Unfair, Yaoh, Yuukan Club...
But some that I particularly couldn't enjoy include: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, Mei-chan no Shitsuji, Zettai Kareshi, Bambino, Honey & Clover, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Transformers, Otomen...
So to answer the last question...I would actually love a Skip Beat live-action (they're planning a Taiwanese version) but then I'd be scared of how it may not do the manga justice (the anime should've continued on to include VIE GHOULhttp://the-evilempire.net/public/style_emoticons/default/05g.gif)
I'd also love an Ouran High live-action...but this series is even riskier as a live-action due to the excessive comedy and crack (which some young actors cannot pull off). However if it was done in the style of Hana Kimi (Japanese version), then that would be awesome!!

With anime, you can create a storyline that is truest to the original manga (if that is what you seek, but that's an entirely separate issue altogether...). Some of the comedy and wacky visual effects can only be expressed in anime form. Anime is like actually seeing the characters, which you have already envisioned in your mind as you read the manga, move and talk across the screen. And some genres, like sports and fantasy, are best viewed animated than real life...(Prince of Tennis, anyone? Those impossible moves in real life? You've got to be kidding me -_-)
With dramas, I think the stories become somewhat more relatable since you're watching real humans going through these ordeals. We get the actor's interpretation of the character which adds a different dimension to the characters we already know and love. Plus there are some nuances that just cannot be captured by animation no matter how advanced it is. Things like intricate facial expressions and emotions that you just intuitively feel while watching
Dramas are generally allow more freedom to the storyline due to the nature of the medium and the limited length (9-12 episodes), so we end up with some changes to the storyline. But unlike some people who throw a fit whenever the story detracts from the original storyline, I actually like it when the anime or drama changes things up a little to spice things up a bit. It's like, you already know the original story so what's the point of watching something that is EXACTLY the same, but in a different medium? Change is good, it offers perspective.
Hana Yori Dango was the manga that introduced me to the world of live action. I loved the manga and anime so much, I was curious when the drama was announced and decided to check it out. I really loved it and thus began my journey to seek out other dramas, even ones that are not based on manga.
I'll admit the anime style of HYD was kind of old-ish (similar to the manga) which made it difficult to watch but I thought, for the most part (at least until the ending), it stayed true to the manga. The drama, however, compresses the manga storyline to 9 episodes of about 45 mins. Nevertheless, I loved seeing the characters in human form.
A live action movie is not the same as a serial drama series, given that the series have more time to flesh out the plot, so you can't really judge the movie in quite the same objectives. I liked the Love Com live action movie. It made me laugh, the actors looked great (very similar to their manga counterparts), and the main plot of tall girl who fights with short boy but who really love each other is still there and comes across clear as day. It serves as an introduction to the series for those who might check out the manga series after watching the movie.
I actually thought the change of characters from high school students to adults in the working world in the Zettai Kareshi drama was really well-suited. It always did feel weird that the original characters were mere teenagers.
A live action drama that I thought was really done well (and hasn't been mentioned) is Nodame Cantabile! I'm sure most of you will agree with me ^_^ Everything from the actors, the chemistry, the music, the mixture of live action and animation, was spot on.
I would really love a Skip Beat drama! I've been wishing for the longest time! I did hear that there was going to be a Taiwanese drama, but frankly, it's just not the same! I find it weird that the characters are speaking Chinese and not Japanese...plus Taiwanese dramas tend to over-act and insert too much comedy, which I don't particularly like. As much as I like Hana-Kimi, what happened to the storyline part-way through? Every episode became a different competition between the three dorms and a chance to insert more nonsensical slapstick comedy.
I would also like to see one of my favourite manga in live action: Fruits Basket! Although I have no idea how that could be made possible or whether it would work out... Computer animation, I guess? Hmmm... I wonder....

I prefer just reading the manga so much more is covered.
However I do enjoy Hana Kimi with Ella! Also Gokusen but I wish it had more of the story line with MatsuJun. Where is her Red Lion!!! And where is her man?
Like all conversions you also have to worry about actors not looking like how you imagined they should be. Sigh.
But either way Im going to watch and read them all!!!!MWAHAHAHAHA... :05x:

Well I have not read/watched HYD so I can offer no opinion. As for Lovely Complex I have seen the anime, but I was unaware that there was a live action out of this story. I will have to check it out and then give you my opinion.
As for live actions that I have seen that I enjoyed I have to say Gokusen is by far my favorite so far. I have just started Wallflower and I have yet to form an opinion of the live action drama for that one, but the anime is not too bad.
Manga that I want to see turned into a live action...that requires some thinking, but maybe Kare Kano (if it hasn't already, Im just now really getting into the live action dramas to be honest) or perhaps Mars.

AJ: Anime is better for manga's that have a lot of effects needed in them other wise it falls flat on its face.

I've seen a lot but I have to agree Nodame Cantabile drama was pretty good. It captures the essence of the manga and even heightens the pleasure of reading the manga. Other LA as good are GTO, Kindaichi Shounen no Jikembo and Itazura na Kiss(japanese version). The recent Moyashimon drama is also on par I think.
Do you agree with my sentiment regarding HYD and LC?
I personally think the Japanese version was the best. If we go by character, the Japanese version had a lot spot on. They didn't butcher the plot too much too. The best Tsukushi was the Taiwan version. The best Domyouji was MatsuJun. The best Rui was the Taiwan version. I've read the manga, watched all 3 incarnations. Didn't watch the anime though. I hated the HYD movie. It's too much.
As for LC movie, it was pretty decent. But I dislike the anime too so there :05ac:
Which anime would you like to see turned into a live action and why?
A lot :05n: Ouran Host Club, Gakuen Alice, Fullmetal Panic!, Skip Beat, Furuba, CCS..
However if they are going to butcher the story I'd rather not.

I absolutely loved Hana Kimi, it was close enough to the story to keep me happy but it had enough twists to make it unique. Someone said that if Host Club was done the way Hana Kimi was done it would be awesome....I completely agree, they have to cast the right people for the funny roles(like they did for Nakatsu) or it'll probably end up being awful.
As far as HYD goes, I liked the Japanese version most. First reason being that I love MatsuJun, second reason being that I can't stand Ella (so sorry).
And now I have to go watch the LC one, somehow I didn't know it existed. Yay for something to watch!! :D

There are some dramas that are actually really good, but most of the times they are just too exagerated or the story is changed too much. I find that most of the time, the anime will be more loyal to the manga.

I like manga but most shoujo manga's go on for to long with lots of stupid filler...
I like anime because It's a more condensed version of the manga and it's not as awkward as live action. :)
