i remember that i was searching for romance on an anime site and it came up with Gravitation (i blushed so hard when i watched it "OMG, THOSE GUYS ARE KISSING!") and i loved it so much, i moved on Junjou Romantica and when i noticed its genre, yaoi, i searched for it online and came to a few online manga readers that have yaoi on them and that was it really. Ive been hooked on Yaoi ever since! ;)

If I remember correctly, it was the anime Gravitation that started it all! Then I got curious and started looking for yaoi manga; the first for me was Youka Nitta sensei's Haru wo daiteita and I just loved it. From then on, I got hooked on yaoi and I can't live without it anymore :05q:

I literally ran out of good Shoujo to read. I loooooooove romance and reading/watching cute romances makes me all happy and fuzzy inside. Doesn't matter to me the gender as long as I can enjoy the story, so I decided to try out yaoi since there's so much scanlation for it. Also, yaoi tends to have more varied characters and locations, so it's rather refreshing overall.

Well my liking spree for yaoi started first with shounen-ai, Gravitation (anime) was my first series that, took me to the wonders of yaoi world. I was hooked =). After that I started to search every kind of yaoi, from soft to very HARD. At the moment my number 1. yaoi is view finder and crimson spell. I absolutely love Yamane Ayano's work, her art is one of a kind. And her stories are really interesting and funny too, I love them!

My love for yaoi started with the novel Only The Ring Finger Knows and then on the old crunchy roll I found an OVA of Ai no Kusabi. I didn't know at the time that there was a specific genre that both belonged to but yea they were what got me addicted :ylaugh: At the time I didn't even know what Ai no Kusabi was about and I watched it and thought it was really hardcore, it serious scared the bejeezus out of me but I still got hooked onto the genre hahaha

oh wow, I can't remember the first BL I read...my friend was super into yaoi, and I discovered Aarinfantasy so I could find stuff for her...I remember watching Junjou Romantica, and absolutely loving the comedy parts (was not prepared for the explicit stuff...!) & then it just started snowballing there...

Oh, and doujinshi. All the doujinshis... :yshiny:

I was getting sick of the repetitiveness of shoujo and was surfing through mangafox when I came to Kanjou Spectrum by Yoneda Kou. It was my first exposure to Japanese shounen-ai, and I fell in love with her art style. I read other shounen-ai and then yaoi. It was the mangakas that drew me in more than the subject of the genre. I also liked how it didn't shove the pathetic, weak nature of girls down my throat all the time. I also like how the artistic styles tends to give people realistically sized eyes.
I used to read a lot of webcomics and turns out some of them had gay couples as the protagonists, including one of my favorites, Friendly Hostilities. I just never considered them to be part of their own homosexual genre. When I started reading yaoi, I thought "wow a whole new world," and I had already entered into this world years ago. I got into reading those webcomics because I did not have a TV, and I read as many decent webcomics as I could find no matter the genre.

for me, it wasn't yaoi anime or manga that started the balling rolling. rather, it was the site known as fanfiction, that place has many, and i do mean many, stories created by fans to be enjoyed by others.

my obsession with 07-ghost led me to read m-rated fics.

What started the ball rolling was a friend of mine bringing the "Only the Ring finger Knows" books to school AFTER I read a Gundam Wing fanfic that sparked my curiosity. (Trowa's doing WHAT with Quatre while Trieze is behind the couch? :jawdrop: ) After that bit of "Wow, that's not bad at all. . ." I picked up FAKE at the bookstore and read the entire series as it came out in the bookstore. After that our little group went nuts over it. I started looking it up online and finding other stuff, and enjoying it. We even found movies and things. I guess it went:

Original Anime ---> Fanfics--> Shounen-ai/Yaoi/June Manga --> Yaoi Anime

Mmmm actually, a friend got me into reading yaoi Gundam Wing fiction when I was really young. From there, though, I started finding subtle BL manga to read, like Tokyo Babylon, and eventually FAKE, Legal Drug, etc.

I was about to jump on board the Gravitation bandwagon when I saw that Tokyo Babylon comment. I absolutely loved that manga! :wub: In fact, I read that before Gravitation, then moved on to FAKE, Yami No Matsuei and Eerie Queerie. I know there have been many, many more, but those were the beginning, I believe.

Loveless. That's where it all first started.

I found the anime when I was trying to figure out what anime I should watch next, after Inuyasha. I didn't know what "shounen-ai" or "yaoi" was at that time. When I watched the first episode and saw the kiss, I was shocked (since I didn't even know people could be gay!), but intrigued. I wanted to find out more.

That sent the ball rolling and, well, here I am now!
